Today, Geeklet's school is celebrating the 100th day of class this academic year. You may recall that the third grade parents were instructed to help their kids dress as centenarians, and I proposed that Geeklet dress as the narrator from Jenny Joseph's poem "Warning," who plans to wear purple with a clashing red hat when she's an old woman. I have to say, I'm pleased with our solutions. The Maw lent her the lavender purse with iridescent paillettes. Geeklet added the jacket we had made to match her manhwa persona (see icon) and the loud green stitch counter. I covered her propeller beanie with a red polka-dot fabric and made her a placard out of two printouts and a silicone spatula. The reverse of the sign has the whole poem on it.

Here's a (slightly) better glimpse of the beanie:

And a glimpse of the satin sandals and the outfit The Maw was inspired to don in sympathy.

In other news, I have a crush on this guy:

And I didn't manage to comment on your earlier entry but I am so glad to hear the Maw got into her school. Best possible result! But such a flawed system, I agree. I thought ours was bad, but at least we still (for now) have guaranteed placement in zoned schools...which creates its own sorts of problems in turn...
Sometimes I wish I had the fortitude to consider homeschooling.
I don't think explicatory is a word, but I don't care.
I love Sympathetic!Maw.
And I am mighty fond of you and that guy upon whom you have a crush.
*squishes you for good measure*
